From the time of its discovery in 1895, the chiropractic natural alternative has helped millions of people throughout the world. The chiropractic philosophy essentially teaches that the body has the ability to heal itself. Chiropractic teaches patients to understand the way the body functions. Doctors of Chiropractic are primarily interested in the proper functions of the body tissue and organs - all controlled by the nervous system.

Chiropractic is based on the premise that the relationship between structure and function in the human body is a significant health factor and such relationships between the spinal column and the nervous system are the most significant, since the normal transmission and expression of nerve energy are essential to the restoration and maintenance of health. A Doctor of Chiropractic is uniquely trained to locate and help correct nerve system interference which promotes the body's natural healing ability.

What causes the problem? The spinal column houses your spinal cord, and spinal nerves branch out from between your vertebrae to areas all over your body. Even the slightest shifting of a vertebra in the spinal column is enough to cause excruciating pain. Limit mobility, or cause other troubling symptoms such as tingling of the extremities or a nagging numbness. A misalignment of a vertebra may cause a pinched or inhibited spinal nerve that may result in headaches, lower back pain, and other numerous ailments. This shifting is called a Subluxation. The shifting or misalignment of the spinal bones are commonly caused by 3 types of stress, physical stress, mental or emotional stress and chemical or nutritional stress. Physical stress comes from carrying, lifting, bending, twisting and sitting or standing for long periods of time which can cause structural weakness resulting in pinched nerves, herniated discs and sprains and strains. Emotional stress can cause muscle spasms, which pull on bones, causing pinched nerves. Environmental and nutritional stress can lead to structural problems through damage created by toxins in food, water and air.
